Q: What is GoGo?
A: We are a small company who’s committed to creating something that really helps families. Have you ever juiced anything? If so, you know how incredibly time consuming it is to get one glass of juice. We promise to naturally juice our fruit - a promise that our manufacturing process will NEVER add the “nasty stuff” that is typical in fruit juice processing. Our products are and will always be organic and NOT from concentrate with NOTHING “fake” added - period. No preservatives*, no added sugars, no colorings, no pressing aides, no filtering agents, nada!

* The only exception we allowed ourselves was the use of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) in our first batch which we previously didn't consider as a preservative. We used it because some of our families told us it was ok. But, after reviewing our promise to you (the nothing added - period) we decided it just wasn't right. So, all future batches will no longer have even Vitamin C in them. We feel better knowing that we can wholeheartedly stand by our promise to you know.

Q: What does GoGo mean?
A: We wanted a name that was memorable and positive at the same time. Our founder's oldest child loves fast things - especially race cars. “Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go Speed Racer, Go!” came to mind one day and it just stuck. No, we're not a caffeinated drink.

Q: Your prices are so expensive. Is it really worth that price?
A: Thank you for letting us address this issue! There are several reasons why our price is higher than our competition. First, our natural juicing process is “unconventional” to the industry. It took quite a bit of time to find the right ingredients, solution and equipment. The process we finally settled on is “newer” and therefore more expensive. Secondly, the ingredients we use are 'single-strength, premium' products that cost more to make. This is not a 'stock' ingredient.

Ok, enough of the reasoning, let's review the process:
1. Fight the kids to put their socks, shoes, and jacket on
2. Put the kids in the car
3. Drive to the grocery store and get the kids inside the store
4. Go to the produce aisle and hope you pick fruit that isn't too ripe and in season
5. Hope the kids don't have a meltdown or run all over the place in the grocery store
6. Drag the kids to the checkout stand and pay for your items (hoping that they ignore the candy displays)
7. Pack the kids back into the car with the groceries
8. Drive home with the kids in the car
9. Unload the kids and groceries at home
10. Set up the juicer
11. Wash, peel, remove stem and seeds from fruit
12. Juice fruit in machine and give to your kids
13. Wash juicer making sure not to cut your fingers or scrubber on the blades
14. Wash the kitchen area and utensils used to juice fruit
15. Wash the cup that your kids drank the juice from
16. Relax for 5 seconds before the kids want something again

You tell us... is under $10 worth the cost of all this?

Q: What makes you more special than the others guys?
A: Good question (and thanks for asking)! There are four main ways we're different from the other “stuff”.

First, we're different from almost all of the other juice options because we are NOT made from concentrate. Yeah, yeah, yeah... we know they all say “real fruit juice” but come on.... what's the definition of “REAL”. Products made from concentrate are cheap and more, shall we say, “processed”. Sure, its made from 'real' fruit juice but which one would you rather have? A juice with its water taken out and then put back in? Or, juice that's made by squishing the fruit - plain and simple?

Secondly, our manufacturing process of our fruit to juice is VASTLY superior to the other companies. The “other guys” use pressing aides to mesh their fruit into juice. Pressing aides widely used today include rice hulls and ground wood. Rice hulls are indigestible by humans and if you want to eat wood, I guess you could. We certainly don't want to though. Sure, it's a small amount that may become part of the final product. But, for those of us with serious sensitivities, it's important to exclude these from our diet. And, that's not even the worst part! Typical juice production utilizes fossilized algae called Diatomaceous Earth (DE) to filter juice. Food grade DE, a white powdery substance like pool chlorine or baking soda, gets dumped in the juice vat to filter out the juice. Gross isn't it? No wonder no one outside of the beverage industry ever talked about this! Why do they do it this way? Because it’s the cheapest way to get the most juice out.

We don’t use DE (or press aides for that matter). Instead, we use special equipment that does not require press aides or filtering agents. Needless to say, NO ONE in the industry today has our technology and we don’t expect the “big guys” to change their processes anytime soon. The next time you drink the “other guy's” clear juice think fossilized algae. Then, know that we’re here to protect your family’s health from nasty industry production standards.

Third, we're different because our products are suitable for many food eliminating diets. Our company is based on providing products that kids (and their families) can enjoy while on restrictive diets. Plus, we want our kids to feel 'normal'. How many times have you heard of a child who is Gluten Free/Casein Free and gets teased at school because what they're eating is different from everyone else's meals? We say no more to that! Bring our juices to kid's birthday parties or to school. Pass them around... our products are for EVERYONE (or at least those that aren't sensitive or allergic to pears).

Lastly, have you noticed we haven't talked about the fruit, sugar content or the fact that our product is peeled yet? This is because we believe the “healthiness” of our products are a given. As we grow our product line, we will focus on creating low/lower sugar (no-sugar added, of-course) drinks. And, we will always peel fruits listed on the dirty dozen of organic fruits to always buy organic. (For instance, bananas can be purchased non-organic because their skins are thick and we don't eat banana skins. But, pears should be purchased organic because their skins are thin and they are generally consumed whole). The fruits we choose for our mixed drinks will always have a purpose too. For instance, we may choose fruits high in Vitamin C for an immunity-boosting benefit. But, of course, the next product we come out with really depends on what you tell us to make - so make sure to talk to us. The point we want to make is that we're here for you. We're here to listen and make products that are genuinely good for you and your family!

Q: Are you available in my neighborhood store?
A: Unfortunately, no. Because we’re a start-up, we only sell online at this point. As the company grows, we’ll be able to expand distribution across the US and offer our products in retail grocery stores (drug and convenience stores too). But, it really depends on you. If you like our products help us by getting the word out to other families. The more we grow, the more places we can go!

Q: How do you make it?
A: Yup, it's true. We're made from certified organic pears with nothing 'fake' added - period!!! Here's how we make it:
1. Organic pears are harvested by growers and sent to our processing plant.
2. We wait until the pears are ripe and then wash them (we mentioned earlier that ripe pears are the more flavorful ones!)
3. Then, we peel them by hand, cut out the core and remove the seeds.
4. They're put in a BIG pot and mashed to get the juices out. (We added Vitamin C to maintain color here the same way you would add lemon juice at home.)
5. Then, they go through our unique no-agent filtering process (otherwise you get almost all pulp)
6. The juice is then heated to kill nasty germs.
7. Lastly, they're bottled and labeled.

That's it.... nothing 'fake' is added... no colors, no preservatives (we have add our Vitamin C disclaimer/exemption here), no added sugars, nothing else added in the manufacturing process.

Q: Is it cloudy or clear juice?
A: Our initial product will be clear because our founder personally likes it that way. But, we can make a cloudy juice as well. So, if you’re interested in a cloudy juice please let us know!.

Q: Why didn't you add supplements (vitamins/minerals)?
A: We thought about adding supplements and did a market survey of our families. It turns out half the families wanted it and the other half didn't care either way. So, we assumed that you already take supplements or offer your child supplements and really didn't need us to add them for you. Hence, we decided not to assume what might/might not be good for your child. Feel free to let us know if you need a 'stronger' drink to 'hide' your supplements in our juices.

Q: Why pear juice?
A: Simple, pears are a low Glycemic food. So, there’s less sugar to worry about feeding bad yeast in the gut. Plus, the fiber in the pears slows the digestion of sugar in the bloodstream (which is supposed to lead to a consistent energy level). All good reasons to choose pears!

Q: Why peeled fruits?
A: Because, we believe pesticides and other “junk” can cling on the skins of fruits. So, by peeling them, we feel it’s a little healthier for our families. Plus, we don’t like the taste and texture of peels.

Additionally, folks who have been diagnosed with certain disorders find that the removal of phenols found in the skins of pears make for easier digestion.

Q: What do doctors and other professionals say about pear juice?
A: It's a common knowledge that pears are low glycemic and the fiber in the product helps slow absorption of sugar in the bloodstream. So, we feel that doctors and nutrition specialists generally agree that our products are good and a better option than others available today.

When it comes to nutrition and diet - then doctors and specialists start to waiver on their own ideologies and beliefs. Every body is unique and we all react to foods differently. Personally, we subscribe to the gut/brain health philosophy where if your digestive system is hurting, your brain is hurting too. It is our belief that maintaining a healthy gut is important to everyone (special needs or not). We're doing our part helping make tummies feel "all better".

Q: What does GFCF, SCD, and Salicylates mean?
A: GoGo Juice takes the stance that every body is unique and different. We believe that you must take your body’s needs and adapt your diet to its requirements. GFCF, SCD and Low Salicylate/Phenols are only a few of the diets that our products will be suitable for.

GFCF stands for Gluten Free/Casein Free. The GFCF diet has been used for those with food allergies, food sensitivities, and even as a fad weight-loss diet. Yup, we're GFCF too.

SCD refers to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Research suggests that certain starches and sugars feed microbes (i.e. bacteria, yeast and fungi) whom live in the intestinal tract. These microbes can cause GI problems, autism and other illnesses. The SCD diet eliminates these microbes by starving them while continuing to nourish the body and thus repairing the gut-brain connection. If you or your child has autism and you don’t know what SCD is…you really need to look into this diet. It’s been around for a while and has worked for many people.

Yes, we are SCD Legal and Approved!

Salicylates (a sub-group of Phenols) are naturally occurring chemical compounds thought to interfere with the production of several brain chemicals but is also essential to many of life's processes. High levels of phenols in certain foods seem to affect some children with autism and certain individuals with sensitive digestive and/or immune systems and should be avoided in these cases. Phenols are everywhere in nature and food so you can not eliminate them totally from the diet. Some phenols are concentrated in the skin and the seeds of some foods (thus, peeled pears are great). Dr. Ben Feingold recommends avoiding fruits with phenols that are “colored fruits. The good news is that you can always purchase a phenolic enzyme to help digest the phenol load.

Guess what? Our peeled, organic pear juice is also low in Phenols and Salicylates!

Q: Why did you make it 100% juice if you want us to drink 50% juice?
A: Our products are meant for everyone. During a taste test, we realized that teenagers and regular soda drinkers didn't like our products while young families with little children did. Feedback from regular soda drinkers was “add sugar”. But, that's the whole point... we don't want to add sugar! In fact, we want your family to drink less sugar (and it helps with weight too). So, our 50% juice is an attempt to change these taste preferences and possibly make our families a little healthier. If we offer our drinks at special occasions (family get-together/holiday/birthday parties) maybe we can gradually make a difference. And maybe, we can really do our families a huge favor. Maybe...just maybe...it can happen in a subtle way.

We also wanted to save you money - and can do so in two ways by offering 100% juice. First, if you dilute our 100% juice with equal parts water you can drink more and save more. Money sure doesn't hurt in this economy! Second, shipping water just didn't seem like the right thing to do. So, we really rely on you to dilute our drinks before passing them onto your family. As the economy gets better, and more families have jobs and disposable income, we may consider offering a ready-to-pour 32oz bottle already diluted with 50% juice. But, let's take things one step at a time for now.

And, did we mention that we're also trying to do our little part in lowering the rate of obesity in our nation? By heeding our recommendation of diluting our juice to 50% at home, you bring the sugar content down to 10 grams. Voila, you're on a low-sugar juice diet.

Q: Why are you suggesting 50% juice when the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends 100% juice?
A: We believe that this good-intentioned recommendation has been outdated and should be revised. As parents become nutritionally savy and health conscious, they need more advice than just avoiding “sweetened” juices (as this recommendation is saying). We believe that juice should be diluted even further to cut down on the natural sugar content. For instance, our 100% pear juice contains 23 grams of natural sugar in one serving. But, if you add water, you can cut down the natural sugar content to 10 grams and give seconds if your child asks for it. So, we go further than the AAP by using non-sweetened, real, fruit juice and making it healthier by adding water and nothing else.

Q: What age can I give my child juice?
A: Although you can technically introduce juice at 6 months of age you really don’t need to. It’ll be better to wait until they turn 1 year old or later. Kids will eventually learn what’s out in the world - like juice, soda, candy, etc. So, when they’re ready it’s better to introduce low-sugar, no-sugar added drinks like ours first. This will help with taste preferences as well as implement a healthier for you diet.

It may take a while to re-train taste preferences of older kids who are accustomed to high-sugar drinks. Persistence is key. Keep offering our juices and eventually they will develop a taste and preference for the less-sugary options like ours.

Q: How much juice can I give my child? ?
A: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states children aged 12 months to 6 years may drink up to 4-6 fl oz of 100% juice per day (and 8-12 fl oz a day for 7 to 18 year olds). If you follow our 50% dilution recommendation (50% juice and 50% water) you can give 2 to 3 servings per day for up to 6 year olds and 4 to 6 servings for older kids. Each serving equals 8 fl oz. For children under 1 year old, do not offer more than 4 fl oz of our drink per day. I'm sure you don't need reminding that diluting it home saves $ and keeps your family healthy

Q: Is it kosher or organic?
A: Our products are certified organic with Oregon Tilth.

We looked into certification but just couldn't afford it at this time. We've had a few requests to get Kosher certified so please bear with us as we do intend on getting the certification eventually. Our plan is to grow a little more and in the next year or two we'll look into the Kosher certification process again. Thank you for your patience with us.

Q: How long can I keep it for and do you add anything to keep it shelf-stable?
A: Nope, we don't add preservatives or anything else to keep it shelf-stable. Instead, we process our juices with our unique technology which kills germs and seals the juice in bottles so it lasts longer (thus making it shelf stable).

Q: Do I need to refrigerate it?
A: No, you don’t need to refrigerate it. But, we do recommend that you drink it cold for a better taste. If you like warm juices feel free to drink it warm too.

Q: Is the bottle recyclable?
A: Yes, recycle the entire bottle please (the label is made of paper).

Q: What type of plastic do you use and is it safe?
A: Our plastic bottlers are made with PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) with recycle # 1. Our caps are made with recycle #5. The main plastic 'scare' is the use of BPA (Bisphenol A) recycle #'s 3, 7, and 'Other'. BPA has been linked to cancer, harmful effects on brain and certain other disorders. There's no way we would intentionally put BPA in our bottles - that's nuts!!! So, YES, our bottles are safe. And, don't forget to recycle it once you're done.

Q: Does the plastic leech?
A: No. Here’s an article about leeching: Click here.

Q: Don't you care about spill-proofing? Why did you choose a bottle with no special cap?
A: Of course we care about spill-proofing. Who wants to clean up a big mess?! But, pediatricians recommend that children drink from a cup and not a bottle. We interpreted that to mean no sports bottle caps or other 'suction' type devices. It makes sense to us as the 'suction' function is different from the 'drinking' function. The cap we choose is cheaper than our competitors and isn't a sippy-like design. The bottom line is that it follows pediatrician's recommendations and ultimately it's cheaper for you!

Q: What other products are you going to offer?
A: Soon, we will introduce a ready-to-go bottle in a 16 oz size with 60% peeled, organic, pear juice just to make your life easier. Regardless of what we come up with next, the juice you're going to get will be the 'real' squished fruit. NOT from concentrate. We have some ideas for after that… but the final decision will be up to you. Click here to tell us what you want now.

Q: What if I want a product that is very specific?
A: Ohhh… we want to hear what it is! Click on the link in the question above and we’ll get started on it! If we can make it happen for you, we will!
